Portsmouth Book and Bar

The beer and food are excellent! Many local draft beers are available. The book selection is not bad, but not awesome either, kind of spotty topically. For example, I found virtually no medieval history and very little theology. The book prices are decent.

I love this place. Really fun to just hang out and enjoy tea and books and occasionally music. However, they seem to purposely not announce when they are having special "pay to enter" concerts so that when you walk you are awkwardly asked to pay them an entry fee ($7) for me. Which is totally fine but should be optional. Or just let us pick how much. Otherwise we either pay up or have to awkwardly leave. Really annoying for people who don't go for the music.

Great little quiet spot for a drink and a bite to eat. They have a handful of beers on tap and a good wine and drink menu to go along with a food menu of smaller plates and sandwiches, and a robust coffee menu. Imagine local library meets cafe with alcoholic drinks. They have newer indie music on in the background that sets the tone. This is a place worth spending some time in!Recommended: The November.
